Who We Are
Adult day care center of Bedford Memorial Hospital, a Carilion affiliate, offers professional daytime care and supervision for adults, 18 years of age and older who, for various reasons, are partially dependent on others, including those with dementia. Also provides Mental Retardation Day Support Services. The mission of the Center is to prevent isolation and maintain functional and cognitive abilities while enhancing a sense of well being in a cost effective manner. Capacity is 50.
The Center offers: socialization; daily health monitoring by a Registered Nurse; medication administration and supervision; therapeutic activities; recreational activities; small group activities based on the functioning level of the participant; assistance with transferring and incontinence needs; bladder training program; Braille lettering at each doorway; occupational, physical and speech therapies; individual care planning; hot lunches and snacks, special diets available. Alzheimer's support group meetings are held on Mondays at 3 pm. Capacity is 50.
Financial assistance is available for qualifying individuals through a grant provided by the Bedford Community Health Foundation. Funding may also be available from Medicaid, Veterans Administration, the Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation. Visa and MasterCard are accepted.
Transportation is provided for Day Care participants from much of the surrounding area.
