American Heart Association
Who We Are
American Heart Association provides health education information, coordinates fund-raising projects, and conducts cardiovascular education for professionals. Community health education includes printed literature available for T.V. classes, schools, or at any organizations request, in-school projects and programs, and speakers' bureau. Training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation is provided for doctors, nurses, hospital staff, public, rescue squad personnel, firemen and policemen through several training centers.
There are numerous other programs available to work site settings, health site, school site and community site. The purpose of these programs is to reduce death and disability due to cardiovascular diseases and stroke and to promote more productive, health oriented lifestyles.
Receives funds from memorial gifts, bequests, a variety of solicitation requests from the public and designated only agreement with United Way of South Hampton Roads.
Affiliated with American Heart Association, National Office, Dallas, Texas, and with the American Heart Association, Mid-Atlantic Affiliate, Richmond, Virginia.
