Programs for Individuals with Disabilities

Hanover County Parks and Recreation offers programs for individuals with disabilities.  Some examples of the programs are campfire program for ages 14 and up, edible essentials for ages 16 and up, field trips for age 18 and up, field trips for ages 12 and up and 14 and up.

Individuals with a disability are encouraged to participate in any program or class offered and are requested to contact the office at least 15 days prior to the class so special accommodations can be arranged.  

A youth therapeutic horseback riding program is periodically available for ages 6 to 18.  Equine Assisted therapy classes are offered to individuals with some cognitive, physical or emotional disabilities.  Participants will experience a wide range of benefits from increased flexibility, better balance, greater confidence and self esteem.
