TRIAD

Orange County Sheriff's Office participates in TRIAD by implementing activities designed to reduce the level of criminal victimization as it impacts senior persons.  Program serves all seniors in the County of Orange. Main goal is to protect seniors against crime. Seniors are educated on how to protect themselves against perpetrators. Seminars are available.

S.A.L.T. (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together) Committee is formed with Law Enforcement, AARP, Alzheimer's Association, senior services, and seniors as members. This program is instrumental in making sure seniors have access to the File of Life packets which are a medical information card put on their refrigerator which has all of their medical and physicians information on it. Rescue Squad is aware of this packet and use it to better treat the senior who has an emergency.

The Yellow Dot Program is also offered, and is the "File of Life" for a vehicle. It works the same as the File of Life except a Yellow Dot is affixed to the rear window on the driver's side and pertinent medical and emergency information is kept updated on a yellow sheet that is put in the glove compartment. The Yellow Dot alerts any law enforcement or emergency service personnel that the person in this vehicle may be a senior in trouble and to check the glove compartment for all pertinent information.

Safety items are given to seniors to enhance their quality of life and allow them to live independently longer. We are also a referral center for seniors when they need to know of a service or safety item they may need. TRIAD researches all requests and returns the call to the senior with information they need.

Frequent presentations are given to organizations and clubs to further educate the seniors on what is available to them through law enforcement and safety materials.
