Who We Are

Bristol City Health Department is part of Mount Rogers Health District and provides public health services on a sliding fee scale based on income.  Health services include:

  • Family Planning
  • Cardiovascular Risk Reduction Project - provides heart disease risk screenings
  • Immunizations - adult and children
  • Baby Care - for high-risk pregnant women and infants up to the age of 2
  • Communicable Disease - Sexually Transmitted Illnesses (STI) testing and treatment; HIV/AIDS Testing
  • Women, Infants & Children (WIC) Nutrition
  • Nursing Home Screenings
  • Health Works - mobile medical unit for onsite health screenings at workplaces and community organizations
  • Pre-Admission Nursing Home Screenings
  • Emergency Preparedness & Response
  • Population Health
  • Vital Records - birth and death certificates

The Health Department is also responsible for Environmental Health Services which include drinking water inspection, permitting, and surveillance; restaurant inspections; insect and rodent control; migrant labor camp sanitation; institutional sanitation; rabies prevention and control; sewage disposal sanitation, and milk sanitation.
