Area Agency on Aging

The primary objectives of the Lake County Area Agency on Aging are to serve as an advocate for persons 60 years and older by helping them to achieve a better quality of life, to secure and maintain independence and dignity in a home environment for older individuals who are capable of self care when provided with the appropriate supportive services, to remove individual and social barriers to economic and personal independence for older individuals, and to provide a continuum of care to the vulnerable elderly, serving those older individuals most at risk of institutionalization.

The service area for Lake Country Area Agency on Aging includes the counties of Brunswick, Mecklenburg and Halifax. Clients served are those age 60 and over, priority given to those eligible for Title III services in greatest economic need and then greatest need socially. Lake Country also offers some fee for service (private pay). Transportation provided for some program. Call for more information.
