Who We Are

The Victim-Witness Assistance Program is funded primarily through grants administered by the Department of Criminal Justice Services in Richmond, Virginia. The Victim-Witness Office acts as a liaison between the prosecutors, victims, and witnesses in our criminal cases.

This office assists victims in the filing of crime victim compensation claims, monitors the payment of restitution, keeps victims and witnesses apprised of ongoing case status, and provides referrals to available community services as appropriate. In an effort to minimize inconvenience to citizens affected by crime, this office also attempts to notify victims and witnesses beforehand when we know that they will not need to come to court.
Volunteer interpreters available for foreign-speaking crime victims and witnesses.
