Who We Are

John Hopkins Cystic Fibrosis Center provides diagnosis and outpatient and inpatient care for children and adults with cystic fibrosis (CF).  The Center brings together a team of pulmonologists, nutritionists, social workers, physical and respiratory therapists, pharmacists and nurses to provide comprehensive care to children and adults with CF.

CF is a genetic, chronic disease that affects many body organs, including the respiratory, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, genitourinary and reproductive systems.  Most individuals with cystic fibrosis (CF) are diagnosed early in life.  All infants born in the United States and in many countries around the world are screened for CF shortly after birth. However, many individuals still are diagnosed later in life because of recurrent respiratory problems and gastrointestinal problems.

Patients are seen in The Cystic Fibrosis Adult Clinic on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, from 1:00 PM until 4:20 PM, on the 7th floor of the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center.  Individuals infected with unusual organisms such as Burkholderia cepacia are seen in clinic held on Monday afternoon.  New patients are scheduled on Thursday afternoons.

Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis Clinic is held Wednesday afternoons and Friday mornings on the lower level of the David M. Rubenstein Child Health Building. Newly diagnosed patients are seen Monday afternoons.

Visit the CF Website to learn what CF is and the science behind it, how to live with and new ways to manage CF, and about the ongoing research.  Information is provided for three distinct audiences: adults, teens and kids.
