Who We Are

The Animal Welfare League of Arlington (AWLA) rescues and shelters all kinds of animals including dogs and puppies, cats and kittens, bunny rabbits, birds, gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs, rats and more. Various breeds of dogs including boxers, labs, beagles, small and toy breeds, and mixed breeds are often available for adoption.

All pets up for adoption receive basic health exams, tests, and vaccinations.  Plus, dogs are evaluated by shelter staff to better match dogs to adopters.

  • Anyone age 60 and older who adopts a dog or cat does not pay a fee.
  • An adoption fee is not required for any dog or cat that is at least five years old.
  • The small companion animal adoption fees vary depending on the animal.

The Animal Shelter receives animals from 8:00 am - 10:30 pm, 365 days a year.
