Parent Resource Center

Many school divisions in Virginia operate Parent Resource Centers (PRC).  The PRC serves the parents of students either receiving special education services or suspected of having a disability.
We provide confidential in- person/phone consultations, numerous workshops throughout the school year on various topics such as, IEPs, Special education law, autism, learning disabilities, ADHD,  Toolkit, Medicaid waivers, special needs trusts, challenging behaviors, and more. 
We educate parents on the State and Federal regulations that govern special education: IDEA and Section 504. 
We help parents become successful advocates for their children. 
We provide information, support and guidance, as well as, linkages to outside agencies, supports, and services 
and we actively work to create a culture of collaboration between home and school with continued focus on increasing family engagement.
