Who We Are
Access Independence, a private, nonprofit Center for Independent Living, administers programs for the deaf and hard of hearing that are available through the Virginia Department of Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
The Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (VDDHH) Outreach program offers:
- information and referral;
- workshops;
- training;
- a device demonstration center;
- newsletter;
- meeting room;
- classes in sign language and coping skills;
- The Technology Assistance Program (TAP).
The program also provides consultation to schools, business, churches, government agencies and organizations and a speaker's bureau for people interested in learning more about hearing loss.
