Who We Are

The Burkeville Lodge for the Blind offers a vacation spot for visually impaired people to gather with their family and friends. It was established in 1960 by the Virginia Association of Workers for the Blind and designed with the vision impaired and blind in mind.  There are two private rooms that are wheelchair accessible.  Eight rooms have private baths and sleep 2 people.  Two suites consist  of two rooms sharing one large bath and sleeping more individuals in single beds.  The cottage has dorm style rooms, sleeping four and sharing baths.  There is one step to enter the cottage and no steps for entering other rooms.  The Lodge offers events throughout the year, including Memorial, 4th of July and Labor Day celebrations.

Burkeville Lodge is available to the public to rent for retreats, showers, club gatherings, family reunions and other types of gatherings.  Check with the manager for prices of overnight stays and meals.
