Disability Advocacy

Eastern Shore Center for Independent Living provides disability related advocacy.  Staff educates individuals with disabilities on their right to participate in all activities within the community.  ESCIL instructs participants their rights and options in the following areas:
 

• Transportation
• Housing
• Employment
• Education
• Financial Assistance
• Accessibility.

Staff and volunteers also initiate efforts toward making changes in the community to make it easier for individuals with disabilities to live independently. These changes may affect legislation, policy, housing, business, transportation, health care, employment opportunities, accessibility, or any other issue affecting the ability of an individual with a disability to live independently.

English, Spanish, TDD and Augmentative Devices are also available.
