Who We Are

Guide dog training at Yorktown Heights, NY Training Center provides a 26-day residential training program for blind and visually impaired persons in communicating with and trusting a newly placed guide dog.  Dogs are assigned to students whose temperament and energy are compatible.  An in-person home interview is conducted before enrolling.  An in-home training for graduates needing to replace guide dogs and unable to return to New York is also provided. Clients are transported clients to and from airports and train stations.

Training experiences are provided in rural, suburban, and urban settings.  The classes are small in size with highly individualized instruction.  (A typical class has 12 students with a Supervisor and two Instructors.)

Wheelchair accessible. Interpreters are available on request.
