Who We Are
The Handivan Service is available to residents of the City of Danville with a qualified physical or cognitive disability and ar unable to use the fixed route service. To use the Handivan service, an individual must complete certification forms to determine eligibility.
Curb-to-curb service is provided for ambulatory individuals. Door-to-door service is provided for disabled persons.
Trips are provided within the city limits of Danville. When needed, the Handivan will complete door-to-door service to achieve origin-to-destination service. The driver is responsible for operating the lift platform and securing wheelchairs.
Once approved, passengers can complete reservations by calling 434-799-5144 between 6;00 am and 6:00 pm, Monday through Saturday. Passengers may also call 434-773-8132 to reserve service Monday through Saturday from 8;00A am until 5:00 pm. Next-day service may be reserved Monday through Sunday by leaving your trip request on the answering machine.
All return trips should be scheduled when reservations are made if that is possible. If you do not know the return time, please give the dispatcher an approximate time when you will be ready to be picked up.
Riders should have exact change. Drivers cannot make change.
