Who We Are

Access  Independence (AI), a private, nonprofit Center for Independent Living, advocates with the local, state and federal governments to increase the rights of people with disabilities. The program offers presentations, speakers, and consultation to individuals and groups on disability-related issues. Staff help individuals with disabilities to understand and exercise their civil rights regarding government and other service providers. Staff assists individuals with disabilities to access benefits and offers disability-related advocacy, both individual and systemic.

AI staff offer assistance to businesses, agencies, and individuals wishing to make their facility or services more accessible to all consumers. Site visits are made and a written summary with recommendations for the most economical and efficient method to improve accessibility is provided.
