Who We Are
The Bridges program, located in Elkwood, Virgininia, provides group day and community engagement opportunties to adults with intellectual / developmental disabilities. Bridges utilizes a person-centered approach to provide skill building and supports, including meaningful community activities and inclusivity.
The goal of the program is to provide services built on the principles of:
- autonomy
- community connections
- relationship building
- individual choice
- empowerment
- gaining independence
The program offers activities designed to help individuals with such skills as daily and independent living, socialization, problem-solving, decision-making, self-advocacy, communication, fine and gross motor skills, and learning general work skills.
Support, assistance, and skills buiilding occur during individual and group activities that take place at the program site and throughout the community.
