Who We Are

It is the mission of The Improvement Association to be the catalyst that enhances the quality of life in communities through comprehensive initiatives, advocating change and empowering people to become self-sufficient.

Families are provided with a range of services that extend beyond treatment of the immediate issue at hand. These services include Head Start Program, Project Discovery, Childcare, Fatherhood Initiatives, Parenting Skills, Employment training, Independent Living Programs, Emergency Programs, Homeless Programs, Referrals, Child Health Insurance, Home Ownership Program, Housing Rehabilitation/Home Repair Program, Nutrition Workshop/Training Program, Self-Reliance Independent Living Program, P.O.W.E.R. Youth Program and SHARE HIP Program.

The Improvement Association works at length with other agencies: Brunswick County, Greensville County, Surry County, Sussex Department of Social Services and Health Departments, Virginia Employment Commission, Virginia Fatherhood Initiative Program, Southside Virginia Community College, Telemon, Rural Development, Virginia Housing Development Authority, many local businesses and faith-based organizations.
