The Virginia Oncology Associates in Norfolk offer:
- Medical Oncology - Medical Oncology is the treatment of cancer with medicine, such as chemotherapy, hormones and other injected or oral therapies that target cancer cells.
- Hemalogy - Hematology is the study of blood and blood-forming tissues and the study of the nature and treatment of diseases of the blood and the blood-forming organs.
- Gynecologic Oncology - Gynecologic Oncology is the field of oncology and surgery specialization that provides care and treatment for female patients with malignancies arising in the reproductive tract or pelvis area.
- Radiation Oncology - Radiation technology is used to deliver internal and external radiation to cancerous cells, which prevents them from growing or dividing.
- Imaging Services - Imaging Services include diagnostic, nuclear and ultrasound.
Treatments and services include Outpatient Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy, Targeted Therapy, Hormone Therapy, Radiation Therapy, Clinical Research, Translational Oncology, Stem Cell Transplantation, Clinical Laboratory, Palliative Care, Genetic Counseling, Education Resources and Financial Counseling. Each cancer is different for each patient and so is the approach used to treat that cancer.
The Norfolk office also conducts research and clinical trials in which their patients can participate. The staff of Virginia Oncology Associates all have access to clinical trials and research through their affiliation with US Oncology Research, directly through National Cancer Institute Cooperative Groups, Eastern Virginia Medical School, the Duke Oncology Network, and other major cancer centers.
