Who We Are
Healing Strides of Virginia provides a therapeutic horseback riding program designed to supplement other forms of therapy for disabled persons. Programs are for individuals with neuro-logical disorders, ADHD, MD, MS, CP, S & A, Downs Syndrome, Rhett's and Angelman's Syndomes, Autish Spectrum, spinal cord injuries, development delays, Sensory Integration and/or skeletal dysfunction.
Healing Strides seeks to serve disabled individuals whose degree of involvement precludes their being served by commercial stables. Sessions are held in the Spring and Fall and camp during the summer. Programs include:
- Therapeutic Riding lessons for physically, emotionally, or cognitively disabled individual
- Hippotherapy (type of physical therapy in which rider sits or lies on the back of a horse for the therapeutic effect of the horse's movement)
- Veterans Program
- Summer Camp
- Volunteers Training (accepts volunteers ages 14+)
- Mentoring Program
