Therapeutic Recreation and Leisure Activities

The Arlington County Therapeutic Recreation/Prevention Office provides to Arlington residents who have a disability, special need and/or activity restrictions, the opportunity to increase quality of life through recreation and leisure pursuits. Therapeutic programs are designed for individuals with physical, emotional, social, and cognitive/mental challenges. Specialized services and programs are provided around prevention and intervention to meet identified needs not met through traditional recreation programs.



Through the Inclusion Support Services, participants in the programs benefit from all of our community resources in Arlington through the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources. Programs are offered in different locations in Arlington County. Call to see if accessible to public transportation. Programs are in accessible locations.  Arlington County Therapeutic Recreation Office is at Langston-Brown Community Center.



A variety of approaches are utilized to promote inclusion and provide access and reasonable accommodations to facilities, programs and services. Accommodations are available upon request & include but are not limited to:

Technical Support to Staff, Accessible Facilities, Sign Language Interpreters, Adapted Equipment & Techniques, Large Print & Braille Brochures, Assistive Listening Devices.
