Therapeutic Recreation Programs

Intellectual Disabilities Agency of the New River Valley (IDA of the NRV) offers programs for people with and without intellectual disabilities. All participants are challenged to improve skills, develop friendships and understand each other's capabilities.



Bowling is offered which is run as a typical bowling league.

Holiday dances for teens and older are held during the year

Basketball and swimming programs are throughout the year.

Cooking, softball, walking club, crafts classes and fishing are also available.



Day camp during the summer is held for persons 6 through 21. The duration and exact dates for the session vary each year. Please call for current information. The camp is based at a local elementary school and activities include swimming daily, field trips and other fun activities. Transportation is provided from various points in the New River Valley.
