Who We Are

Fairfax City Volunteer Fire Department offers free home safety checks to all City residents in order to identify potential fire and life safety hazards.

An essential safety feature for any home is a smoke detector. If you live in the City of Fairfax and need smoke detectors (or smoke detector batteries) for your home, please contact the City of Fairfax Fire Department, Office of Code Administration, at 703-385-7830. The Department will provide and install the smoke detectors.

For a list of manufacturers that distribute smoke detectors for the hearing impaired, please visit the National Fire Protection Association's website for a list of companies that manufacture smoke alarms for persons who are deaf or hard-of-hearing.
