Who We Are

Camp Horizon is a summer camp offering respite care for parents and caregivers of children (ages five and older) and young adults with disabilities to give them a well deserved break.  The children and adults enjoy a fun-filled time at Camp Horizon. Counselors work individually with campers with a curriculum focused on therapeutic recreation and education.

Campers may attend day or overnight camp for a week or more. Summer Camp is held mid-June through mid-August. For an application, medical authorization and other documents related to participation in Summer Camp, Visit Camp Horizon or call 757-622-7017 for an application.

Behavioral and Therapeutic Recreation Consultations are available to individuals who have a Medicaid Community Living Waiver.  Behavioral Consultations support individuals and provide training to families and staff in use of Positive Behavior Supports to replace and/or manage challenging behaviors.   Therapeutic Recreation Consultations support individuals in discovering and engaging in meaningful leisure activities to increase independence and enhance quality of life.
