Who We Are
Winter Homeless Shelter. Friends of Falls Church Homeless Shelter is generally open November 15 until April 15, providing relief from harsh winter weather. The shelter, located at 217 Gordon Road in Falls Church, open between 6 pm and 8 am each day and closes at 8 a.m. Breakfast and bagged lunches are provided for residents each day the shelter is open. The shelter can house 12 individuals, 10 men and 2 women. There are separate sleeping and shower facilities for the men and women. If the guest does not appear at the appointed time, the reserved bed is open to be given to another homeless individual.
Hot meals are available every evening. Staff provides case management services several times a week during the hypothermia season and those services are continued during the off season as well (for 12 months). Staffing is made up of volunteers from families and local high school senior students. In addition, staff provides intake and crisis counseling and can advise guests of local social services.
