Who We Are

The Commissioner of the Revenue is a Virginia constitutional office of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the Mathews County. The Commissioner is elected every four years and is the chief tax assessor. The Commissioner maintains real estate ownership information and oversees the Tax Relief Program for the Elderly, Disabled and Disabled Veterans. The Commissioner also assesses all personal property, including the discount for high mileage vehicles. Contact the office by May 1st of each year with the January 1st vehicle mileage.
