The Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (VDDHH) works to reduce the communication barriers between persons who are deaf or have hearing loss and their families and the professionals who serve them. VDDHH  sponsors a technology program which provides telecommunication services and assistive technology for the deaf, hard of hearing, Deafblind or speech disabled, and community services programs which provide information, training workshops, outreach, and resources for deaf persons and the public.

• Making a call using Virginia Relay and video relay services (VRS), and the Virginia Relay Partners Program which educates businesses and organization on how to accept relay calls
• Outreach programs for training and workshops for: the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and their families; businesses; caregivers; public safety officials, and professionals that provide services to persons who have a hearing loss
• Obtaining and using the services of a Qualified Interpreter, and the Directory of Qualified Interpreters in Virginia
• Demonstration of Assistive technology devices--telephones, alerting systems, and other technology.
