Blue Ridge Habitat for Humanity, serves low-income families who are currently living in substandard housing and cannot qualify for a conventional home loan. A Christian ministry that builds decent, affordable houses for those in need. Houses are sold to partner families at no profit and with no-interest mortgages.



Some qualifications for a Habitat house are to demonstrate willingness, need, and ability. Some are to be able to pay monthly mortgage determined by Area Median Income (AMI); to be willing to partner with Habitat for Humanity by giving 250 hours of "sweat equity" by either working on their house or another Habitat project; and the family needs to demonstrate a financial need, also calculated by the AMI.
