Who We Are
The Family Assistance program provides services to callers located within the Herndon-Reston area. Financial assistance is given for purpose of enabling the caller to meet short-term emergency needs. FISH provides Friendly Instant Sympathetic Help by responding to emergency requests for rent, utilities, medical prescriptions, and other critical needs.
Funds are for short term emergency, such as an imminent threat of eviction or a cutting off of a utility. An Assistance Worker will verify the need and, if appropriate, arrange for payment of up to $300 or, in some instances, more. No one is given help more than once a year, and only Herndon and Reston clients are eligible.
