The Arlington County Bar Association believes everyone who needs a lawyer is entitled to one. To implement this goal, the Arlington County Bar Association established in 1969 the Lawyer Referral Service (LRS). LRS, a public service, recommends qualified attorneys in the fields of law in which you need help. Special accommodations such as evening or weekend hours, and Spanish-speaking lawyers, are available.
Nominal fee -- LRS is designed to help you, regardless of your ability to pay. A nominal fee for an initial consultation with a lawyer is $50.00 for the initial half-hour consultation. Further legal services, if required, become a matter for discussion and agreement between you and the attorney. Anyone may receive the assistance of LRS, whether they live in Arlington or not.
A Senior Citizens Wills Service with special rates is provided for qualifying senior citizens. Attorneys draw up simple wills for the elderly at reduced fees. Program is limited to Arlington County residents. Income restrictions apply (annual income less than $16,000; assets excluding residence less than $15,000/individual or $25,000/couple).
