Who We Are
Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center (WWRC) Recreation Services Department promote leisure and recreation experiences as valuable dimensions of health and wellness as these apply to vocational readiness. Structured and unstructured activities offer all clients the opportunity to become involved. For clients who may benefit socially, emotionally, physically or mentally, special structured programs may be recommended and implemented on an individual or group basis. Programming of this nature is designed to assist clients in transitioning to campus life and integrating into the evening leisure and social life.
Athletic activities are scheduled for both team and individual participation. Creative arts, including crafts, photography, music, painting, and pottery, provide a creative medium for self-development. Field trips to community art programs, community theaters and movie houses enrich the client's experience. Additional community trips are provided to the local WalMart and shopping malls to allow clients the opportunity to make personal purchases.
Club activities and special events for the entire WWRC population are planned and organized with the assistance of the clients. Weekly movies and special events bring light fun and entertainment to WWRC’s atmosphere of learning and therapy. Clients may make requests of the student liaison for assistance in organizing a club or event co-sponsored by the Recreation Services Department.
