Disability Advocacy and Education

Insight Enterprises, Peninsula Center for Independent Living advocates at the local, state and federal level to increase the rights of people with disabilities. Offers presentations, speakers and consultation to individuals and groups on disability-related issues. Assists persons with disabilities to access benefits. Provides disability-related advocacy--both individual and systemic.

The staff offers assistance to businesses, agencies and individuals wishing to make their facility and/or services more accessible to all consumers. Site visits are made and a written summary with recommendations for the most economical and efficient method to become more accessible are provided.

Staff will assist individuals with disabilities to understand and exercise their civil rights regarding government and other service providers. Staff members intervene with individuals, groups, agencies, organizations, and systems on issues related to an individual's rights and needs.
