Recreational Therapy, Developmental Disabilities

The Arc of Greater Williamsburg Recreational Therapy Program encourages socialization with peers and volunteers, connectivity, and interpersonal skills through participation in leisure activities, such as dances, bowling, and the annual William and Mary Greek Life Carnival.

The goals of this program are:

• To foster participation in friendships and allow for social interaction and inclusion among those with developmental disabilities.
• To encourage positive social relationships and allow for interaction among peers.
• To provide opportunities for individuals to participate in activities that may not otherwise be accessible to them, such as amusement park trips, movies and other fun events.
