Who We Are

Individuals, under the age of 55, with severe visual impairment will receive help through the Rehabilitation Teaching and Independent Living (RT/IL) Services Program to adapt to the challenges of daily living, orientation and mobility, assistive communication, and general adjustment services. Rehabilitation teachers provide in-depth home visits to evaluate the unique needs, skills, and concerns of each individual and due a post-assessment to assure that goals have been met after services have been provided.  The teacher sets independent living goals with the individual and writes an Independent Living Plan.

The service area also includes Bedford City, Forest, Gretna, and Vinton.
