Prevocational Services, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Atkins

At The Mount Rogers Community Services Board, Mount Rogers Industrial and Developmental Center (IDC) provides work services and personal growth for persons with disabilities, through the provision of the following programs: Short-term programs include Work Adjustment, Situational Assessments and Supported Employment. Long-term services are provided in the Extended Employment, Work Readiness, Day Support, and Prevocational programs. Services are offered in Galax, Smyth, and Wythe, Virginia.



Prevocational is a long-term service that provides training in skills that are aimed towards preparing individuals with intellectual disabilities for employment. Training in general areas will include attention to task, acceptance of supervision, task completion, and other training areas for employment preparation.
