People First, Self-Advocacy for People with Disabilities

The Arc of Northern Virginia places a focus on issues that affect large portions of the disability community, like waivers, job supports, and early intervention. Advocacy mainly focuses on the state and local level, with some federal work. 

People First is a chapter of a national self-advocacy group. Self-advocates are supported in learning about issues that affect them, then learning to speak up and advocate for change.  Anyone can join the program at no cost. 

The Toastmasters group meets in combination with People First.
