Who We Are
Virginia Legal Aid Society offers Transition Services and Self-Advocacy. Transition services are individualized activities for children with disabilities that are meant to help them transition from school to life post-school. This can include college and vocational tech careers as well as daily living skills.
Self-Advocacy involves making one’s own decisions about one’s life and speaking up for oneself. The person should be able to learn how to get information, make requests, know his or her rights and responsibilities, as well as how to reach out to others when needing assistance.
