Who We Are
Travelers' Aid International, Union Station, offers assistance to travelers stranded in the Metropolitan area. This program provides help to travelers in crisis. Financial aid may not be available, but resources can be provided during office hours. Agency social work staff are available for telephone consultation via Travelers Aid desks. The Homeward Bound program prevents individuals and families from becoming stranded and homeless in the greater Washington, D.C. area. Services include arranging for temporary food and shelter, linkage to family support and referrals to community resources.
Information and direction services are provided by dedicated volunteers at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Washington Dulles International Airport, and Union Station. Desks are open throughout the year except on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Social service assistance is offered by a Travelers Aid Social Worker. With advance notice, they also can arrange for protective travel assistance. Services offered include: Information, direction and referral services to local resources. Nationwide maps and driving directions are provided.
Programs are locally administered and rely on community support in order to provide services.
