Horizons Day Support Program, Intellectual Disabilities

Highlands Community Services provides both Community Engagement and Group Day services through the “Horizon’s Day Services” program. Services are provided to individuals aged 18 and over who have a Developmental Disabilities Waiver. 

Community Engagement provides a wide variety of opportunities to facilitate and build relationships and natural supports in the community, while utilizing the community as a learning environment. All activities are conducted at naturally occurring times and in a variety of natural settings in which the individual actively interacts with persons without disabilities (other than those paid to support the individual). All Community Engagement services are provided in groups of no more than 3 individuals.  

Group day services are provided in both center based and community environments. Group Day services include skill-building or supports which promote the acquisition, retention, or improvement of self-help, socialization, community integration, employability and adaptive skills.
