The Emergency Assistance Program is designed to provide temporary rental or mortgage assistance, utilities, food, and products for individuals and families residing in New River Valley and transients who are experiencing a financial crisis who meet the guidelines. For people who are homeless, referrals are made to the New River Family Shelter, To Our House, or Women's Resource Center.
Some kinds of assistance provided may be: transportation, food, clothing, blankets, bed linens, utility payments, household products, furniture, infant needs, prescriptions, rent, mortgage payments, shelter for homeless people, bus/taxi fare, gasoline, car repair, fees for services, personal hygiene products, assistance with letter writing or completing applications, household items, etc.
Information, referral and outreach services are provided to help participants access needed support from both inside and outside the New River Community Action network.
New River Community Action (NRCA) partners with Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program (MCEAP) and the Pulaski County Emergency Needs Task Force (PCENTF) to administer the Emergency Assistance Program.
