Who We Are
The Emergency Financial Aid (EFA) program can assist individuals living in Roanoke City with a variety of needs, including help with rent, a rental deposit, utility payment, medical bills, eyeglasses, dentures, etc. Must show a need with back up documents. This assistance is to prevent and alleviate homelessness. Case managers will meet and determine funding on a case by case basis. Will assist once a year.
Applications and requests for assistance are not accepted by mail or by telephone. The individual applying for assistance must apply in person in the Emergency Financial Aid office during the hours of 9 am to 11:30 am Monday through Thursday.

Resident of Roanoke City. Request from individuals living outside the City will be considered provided they have a referral from the agency in the area in which they live. Based on income. Assistance available on a once a year basis.

Intake Process
Must go through screening. The individual applying for assistance must apply in person in the Emergency Financial Aid office. The hours are Monday through Friday, 9am to 11:30am and 1:30pm to 3:00pm Written application/specific documents required. Walk-ins are seen on a first come, first serve basis.
