Who We Are
A program of DePaul Community Resources, OPTIONS (Opening People To Individual Opportunities in a Network of Support) offers day support to individuals with developmental disabilities. The activities at OPTIONS include a variety of individualized and group projects which are both center and community-based.
The goals of the OPTIONS program are to:
- Develop self-esteem and self-worth;
- Increase social, recreational and leisure activity levels;
- Increase integration into the community;
- Teach individuals effective ways to interact in their environment;
- Provide volunteer service opportunities to enhance positive community impact.
Center-Based Activities
Every month brings new opportunities to OPTIONS’ participants. Activities that take place at the center include:
- Painting, sculpture and other art classes;
- Independent living skill instruction;
- Personal fitness and hygiene activities;
- Relationship building activities;
- Social events and celebrations.
Community Service
OPTIONS’ clients also participate in numerous community service projects throughout the year including:
- Delivering meals for Meals-on-Wheels;
- Building for Habitat for Humanity;
- Reading to children at local daycare centers;
- Volunteering at local churches and elementary schools.
