Who We Are

Resources for Independent Living, Inc (RIL) offers Peer Support and Independent Living Skills Training to individuals with physical disabilities.

  • Independent Living Skills Training provides consumers with a wide variety of workshops and individualized training that are designed to support their established independent living goals. Skill training is available in money management, nutrition and food preparation, sexuality, decision-making, goal setting, time management, mobility, and self-esteem.
  • Peer Support is based upon the concept that an individual with a physical disability can share experiences that will benefit other persons with physical disabilities.
  • Housing Placement provides individuals with physical disabilities assistance in locating affordable accessible housing by matching their needs to available housing in the community.

Independent Living Center. Centers for Independent Living, often referred to as "CILs" are non-residential places of action and coalition, where persons with disabilities learn empowerment and develop the skills necessary to make lifestyle choices.  Peer support is one of the five core services provided by a center for independent living.
